Love Verses
God's unconditional love and how we are called to love one another as He loves us.
Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ishbosheth, and said, {Am} I a dog's head, which against Judah do shew kindness this day unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David, that thou chargest me to day with a fault concerning this woman?
And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake?
And the king said, {Is} there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, {which is} lame on {his} feet.
And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.
Then said David, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father shewed kindness unto me. And David sent to comfort him by the hand of his servants for his father. And David's servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.
And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him.
And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD. {Jedidiah: that is, Beloved of the LORD}
And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name {was} Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.
And he said unto him, Why {art} thou, {being} the king's son, lean from day to day? wilt thou not tell me? And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister. {lean: Heb. thin} {from day...: Heb. morning by morning}
Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her {was} greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone. {exceedingly: Heb. with great hatred greatly}
And Absalom said to Hushai, {Is} this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?
In that thou lovest thine enemies, and hatest thy friends. For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well. {in...: Heb.
